After much discussion, the MLD (Movimento di Liberazione della Donna - Women’s Liberation Movement) was founded, as an organization federated with the RP. The MLD identified itself as part of a "broader Radical movement that was moving in the direction of a socialist and libertarian society..." (INR345)

MAY - Italy: Rome VII RP CONGRESS (Extraordinary)

The Party opts for an electoral platform that supports the Italian Socialist Party (PSI) with regard to a package of proposals on divorce, the Concordat, the media, and conscientious objection.

NOVEMBER - Italy: Naples - VIII RP CONGRESS

Themes on feminism and legal abortion are introduced. Various antimilitarist campaigns are reconfirmed.
