Muhamed KRESELJAKOVIC

Muhamed Kreseljakovic is died on December 6, 2001.

Bosnia and Hercegovina. Born in 1939, he was resident in Sarajevo.

He has been Mayor of Sarajevo and a member of the Democratic Action Party (SDA). This university lecturer joined the Radical Party in November 1992, at the height of the war in Bosnia, during a meeting with a Radical Party delegation visiting Sarajevo.

"To be quite honest, as soon as I heard you had arrived I wondered how best I could exploit the visit. During my two years as Mayor I have met a number of Ministers and several European Heads of State. Every time I meet these people I have to resign myself to the fact that I am not a "diplomat": I might not even be a good Mayor. Everything I do is aimed at bringing help to the people of this town. My journeys are to let people know what is going on here.

I'll tell you how you can help us: anything you can do will be good for us, because we have nothing. The only thing we have is hope. I beg you, within the limits of what your party can do, to tell the world what you have seen in Sarajevo. Europe must become aware. The people of this town need Europe's help. I beg you to make an impact on Italian public opinion. I know Italy and I am certain that if the Italians were better informed about what is happening in Sarajevo, they would put much more pressure on the government to do something."
