Journalist by profession. Among the founders of the Radical Party, which he was Secretary of in 1968, 1975 and 1976; several times President of the federal Council. In 1975 as Secretary of the party he organized a civil disobedience action against the legal punishment of abortion, together with the Information Centre on Sterilization and Abortion (CISA). For this he was arrested and prosecuted for criminal conspiracy. Several times member of Parliament and of the Senate, former president of the European Environmentalist Federalist Group.
