Born in 1918, he lives in Rome. Honorary Chairman of the Radical Party. Former member of the Chamber of Deputies, elected on the Radical Party list.

Architectural historian of world renown, graduate from Harvard University, author of many publications. He is a professor at the Universities of Venice and Rome. He has been writing a column for the weekly L'Espresso since 1955, and is an active member of the Italian-Jewish community. He took part in the anti-fascist struggle within the Justice and Liberty Action Party. Since 1955 he has been the editor of the monthly L'architettura, cronache e storia.
