en Géorgie d'un journaliste couvrant le conflit tchétchène

Tiblissi. Antonio Russo, un journaliste italien travaillant pour Radio
Radicale (la radio du Parti radical dirigé par l'ex-commissaire européenne
Emma Bonino) a été retrouvé mort, lundi 1° octobre en Géorgie, où
il résidait depuis six mois pour suivre la guerre en Tchétchénie. Son
corps a été découvert à une quarantaine de kilomètres de Tiblissi, la
capitale. Selon l'autopsie, le journliste aurait été battu à mort. Son
ordinateur, son téléphone portable, de nombreuse cassettes vidéo ainsi
que des photos ramenéew d'un voyage récent en tchétchenié lui ont été

Rome 17 October 2000. "Antonio Russo has died while he was engaged in his journalistic and civil struggle to document human rights violations and defend them. He was an excellent professional and an activist of that Transnational Radical Party which suspension is at stake in these hours at the UN. Russo e' scomparso mentre era impegnato nella sua battaglia giornalistica
e civile a testimonianza e difesa dei diritti umani. Era un eccellente
professionista ed era un militante di quel partito radicale transnazionale
della cui sospensione dall'Onu proprio in queste ore si sta decidendo.
Spero che la qualita' del suo impegno servira' ad illuminare coloro che
si accingono a questa decisione". Lo afferma il Presidente del Consiglio
Giuliano Amato con una nota.
